(for Lenny)
by Rosana Garcia

I always want you more—
for another second in the morning:
enough time for a kiss, a lingering
hug, enough time for you to wish
you didn’t have to leave.

I always want you more—
for another hour at night, fighting
sleep to run my fingers over your face,
to remember, to never forget, to touch
the vulnerable skin of your lip.

I always want you more—
for another private day in the week,
especially on Mondays, when Sundays
have spoiled me and I can’t remember
my name without you.

I always want you more—
when another smiles, tries to touch
my hand, buy me a drink, put their
face close to mine, pull me in—
I will always want you more.
